I am now Jennifer Bruss Photography located at jenniferbrussphotography.com. For ten years, I have been connected to “The Twisted Pear” as a design company, a concept and an emotion. I remember starting the freelance business when my first son was born and feeling like I could do anything! (Andy and I talk now and then of one day owning a bed and breakfast called “The Twisted Pear” and of having the brand as our very own Coffee and Creamery. Can’t you just see the wooden sign out front carved with that beautiful, green pear?) Well, it’s with bittersweet feelings that I let go of the name for my photography business. I feel so personally attached to this dream that I will put my name on it and I will own it. I hope my clients will feel that personal touch come through in the photographs.
So good-bye Twisted Pear. Thank you for fostering my photography dream for a while. I’m ready to strike out with my name and a prayer.

I have always loved portraits with a country charm. The warmth and earthiness of being outside really give a timeless quality. Special thanks to the generous owners of this wonderful property. It was truly a treat!
Oh and yes! That is a grasshopper in her hand that SHE caught. This little girl wasn’t afraid of anything!!

We had fun chatting and walking around Greenville even though the temperature that evening was pushing 100 degrees! These two did a great job staying cool in these portraits. I was very excited to photograph them. Just look at those eyes! Thanks girls for a great session!

These pictures were mined from the second day we spent together. I almost overlooked these little gems.

While in Wisconsin, I had a wonderful visit with longtime friends near and dear to my heart. I took these photographs of their three beautiful children in what I’m realizing is a very special ‘northern’ quality light. It cast a warm glow near sunset and gave me a chance to focus on their warm brown eyes! I do love brown eyes! We got some great moments that let their personalities shine through!

These beautiful girls are such fun to be around! What a great time we had running around the city taking pictures. Great job girls! I also enjoyed the concert in the park at the conclusion of the session.

We had so much fun taking these beautiful portraits last night. The heat chased us well into the sunset, but we wouldn’t be deterred. She was such a trooper. I hope you enjoy them!

Inspired by Zack Arias who challenged himself to take 10 portraits in 10 hours in NYC, yesterday I tried to take five portraits in one hour in downtown Greenville. This personal challenge had nothing to do with competitiveness and everything to do with having to pick up my kids from camp and reading Zack’s post late in the day. When inspiration hits… it hits!
Wow! The idea of approaching complete strangers and asking to take a portrait really broke me out of my comfort zone and forced me to interact with them. I was so grateful for the willingness and friendliness of the people I met. Thank you for your generosity! I’m a believer now in putting myself out there a bit more. Thanks to Oliver Yu for pushing me harder on that point too.
